Congratulations to all of our scholarship and contest winners!
2010 My FIDM Fashion Club
Scholarship Contest
Each year, we call for juniors and seniors in official High School FIDM Fashion Clubs to enter the My FIDM Fashion Club Scholarship Contest. One (1) full-year scholarship to attend FIDM (a value of up to $23,000) is awarded in the junior category, and two $5,000 scholarships to attend FIDM are awarded in the senior category.
Juniors are asked to imagine they’ve been hired to plan (with an unlimited budget) the look and concept of a fashion show for a famous fashion designer of their choice, then develop a concept for the fashion show. They must keep in mind that the audience will be fashion editors, buyers, and VIPs from all over the world!
Seniors are asked to put themselves ten years into the future and write a 500-word essay detailing what their FIDM Fashion Club has been up to for the last 10 years to stay active.
We are thrilled to announce that our Junior Winner is Danica Y. of West Ranch High School, and our Senior Winners are Cheyenne D. of Rim of the World High School and Jonika K. of Big Bear High School. Thank you to all who entered and congratulations to our winners!

Cheyenne D.'s Essay Excerpt
"It touched my heart to see how they have kept Cinderella's Closet running and how much they have improved it. Cinderella's Closet started the year I was in Fashion Club. It's a place where dresses, suits, shoes, and accessories are donated for girls and boys for any dance occasion at no cost. I used to help run the Closet and it was small. It's now moved into a bigger room, and has been transformed to look like a boutique with more dresses, suits, and accessories. Running Cinderella's Closet is another example of practicing the majors at FIDM since it deals with marketing. To market the merchandise within the Closet, Fashion Club holds three runway shows—for Homecoming, Winter Formal, and Prom pep rallies. Running Cinderella's Closet and holding runway shows helps Fashion Club Members with learning about management, responsibility, and marketing."

"The size of the club had grown and the original idea has expanded. Local retail stores are now involved and donate dresses to the Club Closet. The Club has expanded from our original 15 members, so more of the school is a part of this rewarding project. They have grown to the extent where now they are sending dresses to girls out of the area! The Club is so organized and focused on this yearly goal. At the beginning of each school year, the Club collects dresses and by the time Prom season rolls around, they have a closet full of dresses! By giving less fortunate people hope, they've helped the entire community."
