L.A. Live

Live from L.A.

With 5.6 million square-feet of dining and entertainment, L.A. Live is one of Southern California’s hottest attractions. From the Nokia Theater (home to the Emmys and American Idol Finals) to Lucky Strike Lanes (bowling at its most stylish), not to mention Staples Center and the many restaurants and cafes, there’s never a dull moment on this complex, located just steps away from the FIDM campus!

Tiara Café

My Tiara Please

It’s not unusual to spot the Fashion Club team lunching at Tiara Cafe. After all, it’s located in the New Mart building where dozens of our favorite fashion labels have showrooms; it’s sweet and girly, with sparkly pink walls and jewel-tone booths; and it has beautiful, bite-sized cupcakes that are perfect for sharing.

California Market Center

Best In Show

It’s no secret that fashion showrooms exist so that buyers can have dibs on what’s new, what’s hot, and what will sell in their stores. But, at the end of the month, showrooms in the Cal Mart (an easy 5 minute stroll from FIDM) open their doors to the public for a huge, bargain basement sample sale.

Bottega Louie

Louie Louie

All of downtown is singing the praises of Bottega Louie, an all-in-one lunch deli, coffee bar (complete with the most gorgeous pastries around!), and restaurant that just opened up about two blocks from FIDM. Besides the palate-pleasing goodies, the place is visually stunning, from the clean, marble tabletops to the chic, pastel takeout boxes.

L.A. Fashion District

Shop To It

Minutes away from the FIDM campus is the L.A. Fashion District, a veritable hub of fashion wholesalers, retailers, manufacturers, designer’s lofts—you name it. Students, like most Angelenos and visitors, flock the 90-block stretch to find great deals on anything from denim to sunglasses to fresh flowers.
