We’re all Barbie girls in a Barbie world!
Charlotte Dellal, the British designer behind those fun and cheeky Charlotte Olympia shoes and accessories, has made a childhood dream come true with her latest collection—a collaboration with fashion’s ultimate It girl, Barbie.
“Isn’t it every girl’s dream to have a Barbie that looks like her,” the designer said in an interview with WWD. “I had so many Barbie dolls as a child—more than any girl ever needed—and I made them outfits and set their hair.” And if designing a Barbie that looks just like her—from the leopard print suit to the red lipstick—wasn’t cool enough, Dellal kicked off the launch of the line with a short film done by director Quentin Tarantino. Seriously, this collab just keeps getting better and better.
“My favorite was a special Rio de Janeiro Barbie,” Dellal continued. “She’s still behind my desk in a box now, alongside a glass jar of a thousand Barbie shoes that I bought on eBay a few years ago.” (SIDE NOTE: We want to see that jar!)
The 7-piece capsule collection is available now on the Charlotte Olympia website, as well as Net-a-Porter.com, and it’s every bit as cute and playful as you’d expect. There’s the signature Charlotte Olympia Kitty Flats, done in both leopard print and black, a calfskin clutch with an engraved interior mirror that reads, “Yes, you look terrific!”, and a pair of va-va-voom platforms in Barbie’s signature shade of pink. Prices range from $325 for a pair of kitty flats to $1,565 for the Barbie World clutch pictured.
No word yet from Barbie herself (she’s, like, super busy, after all), but we’re certain she’s as obsessed with this collection as we are.
