We love when we see club activities on social! Makes us proud! Recently we came across Desert Hot Springs FIDM Fashion Club @dhshsfashion posting photos of a project inspired by FIDM DEBUT Chairing Styles! To get the story, we caught up with five-year veteran Fashion Club Advisor Rosa Loughnane. Top Photo: (from left) Madelynn Beltran (VP), FC Advisor Rosa Loughnane, Brianna Valencia (President)
What inspired this project? I was inspired by our last visit to FIDM! I loved Chairing Styles so much. I also teach 3D, so I thought it would be a great way to combine both worlds.
Tell us about the styles: The students created retro styles, beach themes, and everything from romantic looks to punk.
How many years has your club been attending DEBUT? This is our fourth year attending DEBUT!
And the Fashion Club Pre-Party? Not even a question, haha.
What upcoming projects is your club planning? We are currently creating maquette room designs, in the style of Piet Mondrian. We worked on Pop Art inspired fashions last month.
Anything else you’d like to share? I utilize my fashion class/club also as an opportunity to introduce designers who support charities, and topics like body shaming. I want the students to see that fashion is another tool in the art world to convey messages and make a statement to the world.
