13 FIDM Fashion Club student designers show their work
The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) in Mesa, Arizona recently hosted its annual EVIT Spring Fashion Show, themed “Discover the World, a Passport to Creativity”. Thirteen high school student designers—all members of EVIT’s FIDM Fashion Club—participated in the sold-out runway show (40 additional seats had to be added at the last minute!), which featured 50 models and a panel of judges who awarded scholarships to winners.
The student designers looked to different countries such as Spain and South Africa to inspire their collections, which encompassed 60 looks in total. At the end of the successful evening, EVIT FIDM Fashion Club President Victoria Luckey was announced as the show’s winning designer. “I felt like everyone worked so hard night of the show, but to know that all the time spent on making shoes, necklaces, fabric, and headpieces was worth it brought me tears,” she said. “Fashion is a big part of my life, and I worked really hard for the night of the show.”
The graduating senior noted one of her favorite designers from the night was Faith Christensen and her Norwegian collection. “It was gorgeous, well sewn, and fit her style to a T—and her animal-style headpieces and jewelry were pretty amazing as well,” said Victoria, who will be studying Fashion Design at FIDM Los Angeles beginning this summer. She’ll also be an incoming FIDM Student Ambassador.
“FIDM has been my goal since freshman year, and now that it’s almost here, I am so anxious and excited,” she said. “I can’t wait to meet new people and expand on my fashion skills and career.”
