Don’t miss her advice for Fashion Club presidents.
Fashion Club has helped me become a better leader and friend. I’ve grown in my ability to communicate and cooperate with others. I was able to experience the amount of responsibility and self control it takes to manage a club as well as put on a fashion runway show.
My favorite Fashion Club memory was seeing how our first homecoming runway (from last year) differed in terms of results compared to our prom runway (this year). The looks of the Fashion Club family when our show was a success made me beam with joy. All our hard work had paid off and everyone took a part in making the show possible.
My advice for incoming FIDM Fashion Club Presidents is to be organized. Write your thoughts out, whether just planning a club meeting or something as big as a runway show. Communicate well with others. Nothing can be done on your own and sometimes it requires putting trust in others. Don’t be disappointed when something doesn’t turn out perfectly. Mistakes create success. For regular club meetings, I would do a lot of activities as a whole family and then break out into committees for a fashion runway. It’s more about the fun than the work.
FC Co-President Hedgie Lim just graduated from Classical Academy High School in Escondido, California, and starts at FIDM this fall, studying Merchandise Product Development. Annemarie Cassidy is replacing her as club president.
