Desert Hills HS FC challenges members to make clothing using recycled materials.
Our Fashion Club, headed up by president Cambree McCoy, held a fashion show in May in which we were challenged to create an outfit made of reusable materials.
I constructed a dress made of maps, and modeled it in the show. You’re sure to never get lost in this dress!
About fifteen students participated in the challenge. Other materials that were used included trash bags, water bottles, paint chips, and playing cards. Someone even made a suit from duct tape.
I’d have to say my favorite part of the show was right before we all went on stage. We got to see all of our creations and unique ideas come to life. We were all nervous with excitement for our time to walk out on stage.
I love that fashion is so self-expressive. You can really say a lot about yourself and your personality by what you wear. I am interested in all kinds of design. I would like to be involved in some sort of design in my career—whether it’s fashion design, interior design, or graphic design.
