Her favorite Fashion Club memory was producing her school’s annual fashion show.
FIDM Fashion Club has enabled me to be more communicative and to work with a team. These are personal qualities employers look for in potential interns and hires. Fashion Club also taught me how a fashion show is produced, from all the prep work to the actual event—essential knowledge for any future fashion designer.
My favorite Fashion Club memory is when our annual fashion show was finished and all the designers, models, and club members who made the show possible came onto stage, and everyone in the audience cheered and clapped. It was the most beautiful moment, to see all your hard work appreciated and adored. It really was a precious and special moment.
My advice to all Fashion Club presidents is to always plan and prepare, and always have a backup plan. There will always be, at some point, a minor or major setback. As president, you must be ready for it. It is your job to ensure that the club runs smoothly. But don’t forget to have fun, and make sure your members are having fun, as well. A fun and well functioning club is the best club!
FC President Leslie Samano just graduated from Trimble Tech High School in Fort Worth, Texas, and starts at FIDM this fall, studying Fashion Design. Maria Vargas is replacing her as the new FC president.
