Fashion Club Members raised over $200 towards a trip to California.
Immokalee High School FIDM Fashion Club Co-President Christina Manasse fills us in on their sweet activity!
I decided to hold the bake sale in hopes of raising enough money to go on a Cali trip. We are all really excited about this and I’m trying take as many of the club members as I can. It was held in front of a store called R&B, which is a hardware store a friend of my grandpa owns.
For the first bake sale, I made velvet cake and strawberry cupcakes. Lilah, one of my club members, made cake pops, Amelia made chocolate covered strawberries (both white and regular chocolate), Jean and Alejandra bought drinks, and those who couldn’t make it dropped things off.
We made over $200; people were very generous. Most were donations but we also sold out of baked goods. We plan to add the money to the Cali trip we are trying to take in April for the FIDM DEBUT Runway Show. The best part of the bake sale was the laughter and everyone bonding. I have people in my club who wouldn’t give another glance at each other before, but that day, it was different.
I also recently collaborated with my talented club members, Katia (pictured) and Angel, who was the photographer. I designed the off shoulder blouse and Katia distressed the denim skinny jeans. Stay tuned for future projects!
This year, we are collaborating with another club called 1by1 to have an Earth Day Fashion Show on April 13th. My club is also going to use that platform to sell tickets for our Spring Fashion Show.
