Around 150 people attended the successful show!
Mountain View High School in Bend, Oregon recently hosted a successful fashion show that was attended by around 150 people. “We received numerous compliments on the professionalism of the event, along with the craftsmanship of the pieces,” said Mountain View High School Fashion Club founder and president Parker Wild. “We were able to put on a 45-minute fashion show, which showcased nine different designers, including me.”
The show came about thanks to a chance meeting at the Scholastic Art Competition. “I met a senior at another local high school in Bend named Samantha,” Parker explained. “She entered a fashion portfolio and won numerous awards for her pieces. After chatting and getting in contact with her, I discussed the idea of doing a combined fashion show with her high school and mine.”
The dual-school show was held on a Friday evening at Summit High School and featured a catwalk, lights, music, and plenty of talent.
Throughout the school year, the Mountain View High School Fashion Club hosted other events such as “Denim and Dinner” nights, where members upcycle and repurpose old denim, and lunchtime workshops (such as pillowcase making and sewing basics). Parker said, “Having this fashion show under my belt, I have become more and more excited to attend FIDM and see what college has to offer!”
