These students got creative for Homecoming and Halloween!
It’s been a busy fall season for members of the North Allegheny High School Fashion Club. During Homecoming, FC President Parastoo Aramesh came up with an idea to make berets to go with their school’s “Midnight in Paris” theme.
“The club purchased red felt and I cut out pieces beforehand to make the process go more smoothly,” she explained. “I put up the instructions on the board and also demonstrated and explained as we did them. The leadership team went around the room helping anyone who needed help.”
Fashion Club members used sewing machines and some added embellishments and accessories to their berets at the end. “At Homecoming, the red berets really popped out since we were all wearing black and white,” she adds. “People complimented them and asked if we made them ourselves.”
For Halloween, the North Allegheny Fashion Club decided to do special effects makeup as their activity. After purchasing materials and using an online video as their guide, the members got to work. “It was fairly easy,” Parastoo reported. “Everyone’s looked gory and realistic.”
While their club nearly has 20 members, Parastoo noted that new people attend each of their meetings, which often feature a guest speaker from the fashion community. “We do crafts like the makeup or hair braiding,” she said. “We hold fundraisers like face painting at the football game, and of course we help everyone with their designs getting ready for the April Fashion Show.”
We look forward to their annual spring fashion show, which benefits Miss 22 Quties, a special needs beauty pageant!
