This FC Pres from YES Prep Southeast in Houston, Texas, paints his denim jackets as a form of self-expression. We love that!
FIDM is my dream school and I definitely feel like this club is one of the first steps to me achieving my goal of being a successful graphic/fashion designer. My goal is to be able to create custom/innovative pieces of high fashion clothing with graphics that will appeal to many people, but will be unique to myself.
I love how fashion allows us to be our own unique selves without fear of judgement. Fashion boosts self-confidence. There are so many pieces that are unisex, meaning both men and women can rock them, and people feel confident in them. There’s an endless amount of clothing you can choose from to express yourself.
Next year I plan on aiding my club members into discovering who they TRULY are. I want them to envision and create clothing that THEY love. I hope to emphasize the meaning of confidence to them so that as the year progresses, they learn how to be themselves and express their unique identity in a fashionable way.
My style is very laid back and chill. I really love to incorporate denim in literally EVERY outfit. I get really inspired by ‘90s street style and bright colors. I like to express myself in a way where I feel comfortable and stylish all at once.
People compliment my art, but I started to feel as though I wasn’t expressing myself enough through canvas, which is why I decided to paint on my denim jackets. I’ve customized them with painted graphics of things I love. I can wear them with anything and they show off my personality without me having to say a word. They’re my favorite pieces of clothing.
