FC Pres Peyton Haahr reports on homecoming dress trends and the best sites to find them.
Peyton Haahr, Fashion Club President at Santa Fe Christian School in Solana Beach, California, covers homecoming trends this week! She tells us five top sites for dresses.
“If you don’t want a dress someone else has, SHOP ONLINE!”
Nordstrom.com – A great way alternative to the department store itself. They have a great selection, with both low and high prices.
Nordstrom Ombré Sequin Dress ($78)
A super cute, sparkly sequin dress. The cut outs and mesh add a unique twist.
Nordstrom 2-Piece Dress ($98)
Two piece dresses are super fresh, and such an interesting take on the homecoming dress. The scalloped neckline and illusion mesh stripes make the skirt full and trendy.
NastyGal.com – For the adventurous fashionista. There is everything under the sun on Nasty Gal. Their clothes tend to show more skin, and be a little more trend-focused.
Nasty Gal Cold-Shoulder Dress – ($68)
Following in the uber popular trend of ‘off-the-shoulder’, this dress is one that pairs perfectly with colorful heels and a statement purse or earrings.
Nasty Gal Cutout Dress ($148)
This is a great color, and the texture and straps add to the appeal. The grommets on it add a bit of shine, too!
FreePeople.com – If you have a boho style, this is the place to look. I’ve gotten both homecoming and prom dresses here, because I love the flowy and floral dresses and tops found in abundance here.
Free People Mini Dress ($250)
A great green color, with lots of texture and weave. The high neck is so pretty, and the mesh adds to the boho yet warrior princess look.
Free People Lace Dress ($250)
This dress comes in multiple colors, and can be worn for a multitude of occasions. Great for homecoming, and great for a wedding too! The open back is on-trend and looks great with earrings and strappy shoes.
UrbanOutfitters.com – A tougher place to find a homecoming dress, but if you do, it will definitely be a unique one. I got my first homecoming dress from here, and I still LOVE wearing that dress. It’s still stylish, and it wasn’t crazy expensive.
Urban Outfitters Beaded Fit + Flare ($215)
This is a super pretty color, and the beading that is on the fold-over top is so gorgeous. PSA—it has pockets! If you’re like me, you firmly believe dresses need more pockets. This one does. It’s a great fit for all body types and is strapless—so perfect for wearing hair down or a messy up-do.
Urban Outfitters Embroidered Mini ($218)
This may not be the most traditional or normal dress to choose for homecoming, but who doesn’t want to stand out and make a statement? The mesh sleeves are so unique and definitely an eye catcher. The color is light and sweet, and the dress would be awesome paired with high heeled boots and a stack of gold rings.
Revolve.com – There is literally everything on this website. I’ve gotten everything from dresses to yoga pants to beanies here. It’s a great place to look for all kinds of dresses—casual or fancy. They even have wedding dresses.
Nicholas Lace Square Neck Dress ($550)
This one is a little more expensive for a homecoming dress, so my bad. But would be so on-trend with a choker. The neckline is flattering and the long sleeves are intricate, and will keep you cool even when dancing.
For Love & Lemons Cutout Dress ($268)
I adore scrolling through For Love & Lemons’ Instagram feed, and I think their dresses are so gorgeous to look at. This dress is wonderfully textured with a black or crème lace, and an open back. The detailing on the edges of the skirt and back are delicate and intricate, making it SO pretty.
