Fall is here and it’s time to get cozy!
ICYMI, hygge—the Danish word that basically means making everything as comfy and cozy as possible—is super in this season, and it showed up on a number of designer runways in the form of cozy knits.
More ubiquitous than a pumpkin spice latte, knits are nothing new for cooler temps, but for their Fall 2017 collections, labels like R13, Isabel Marant, Chanel, Sonia Rykiel, and Topman Design reimagined knits with supersized silhouettes (think extra-long arms and extreme slouchiness), fringe, and lots of layers (we were obsessed with the layered looks at Prada).

The stylish set are totally embracing this hygge trend too, showing up on red carpets, at New York Fashion Week, and on the streets in their comfiest knit gear.
Besides editorial spreads in Vogue (including international editions), Glamour, and Elle, we’ve spotted everyone from street style stars like Olivia Palermo to editors like Elaine Welteroth to Hollywood heavy-hitters, including Elle Fanning and the Hadid sisters, in thick-knit sweater dresses, chunky pullovers, and oversized cardigans.

Want to try the trend?
Chunky knit sweaters can be found just about everywhere now that the fall season has arrived, and they’ll go great with your favorite midi skirt or jeans. Look for interesting details, such as an asymmetrical or fringed hem, or buy a couple of sizes bigger so it’s extra long and slouchy.
You can also snatch a cozy knit scarf this time of year, a look we saw on the Prada runway.
And since this season is all about hygge, don’t shy away from layering your coziest knits—a cute sweater dress under a chunky knit scarf, or an oversized cardigan layered over a comfy pullover, for example.
For guys, think large knits with oversized turtlenecks and extra-long scarves, both of which pair well with your favorite jeans, slacks, and even slouchy sweatpants.
