We’re falling for these flowers!
This season we were reminded that flower prints aren’t exclusive to spring; several designers, including Prabal Gurung, Valentino, Simone Rocha, and Tory Burch, served up fall florals in richer, moodier hues—perfect for the brisk autumn and winter weather. We spotted florals on dresses at Coach and Erdem, swingy capes at Balenciaga, and a to-die-for painterly-inspired floral jacket at Prada that we’re still swooning over.

Celebs are swooning too. Dakota Johnson and Selena Gomez are huge fans of floral print dresses, as is Lily Collins, who topped hers with a patent trench coat for a look that was a combination of edgy and sweet. Besides them, Gwen Stefani and Demi Lovato have been photographed wearing floral print bomber jackets—another It girl way to wear the look. Top models and style experts are also feeling the trend, rocking straight-from-the-runway pieces all over Instagram and in street style shots.

Want to try the trend? You don’t have to toss those summery floral print dresses and skirts aside just yet; pair them with dark tights, boots, and cozy knits for an instant fall ‘fit. But if you are in the mood to do a little shopping, look for floral prints in darker, more seasonal colors, and get layerable pieces that’ll keep you warm. You can pick up a sweet floral print blouse or tee to pair with jeans and cardigans this season, or grab a floral print maxi dress to rock with an edgy moto jacket. Of course, a floral printed kimono, jacket, or blazer is the perfect way to top off any look. And don’t shy away from mixing two or three different floral prints in one outfit, like the looks we saw on the Marni runway—just keep the prints within the same color story to make it work.
