The must-have coat of the season is totally faux!
Now that the weather is starting to chill out, it’s time to think about your winter coat; if you can only pick one this year, make sure it’s faux fur. Not only was faux fur ridiculously hot on the Fall/Winter 2017 runways (we spotted it at Fendi, Miu Miu, Prada, Pamella Roland, Rochas, and countless others), it’s surprisingly versatile, making it one of the most wearable trends we’ve seen this season.

The trend is hot off the runway as well; from icons like Kate Moss and Sarah Jessica Parker to tastemakers like Rita Ora, Rihanna, and Gigi Hadid, not to mention countless street style stars, we’ve seen faux fur go beyond the catwalk to the streets and red carpet. And in case you missed it, Lily Aldridge’s gorgeous pink faux fur in Vogue Spain was FIRE, and actress Reese Witherspoon slayed in a luxe, red and white Miu Miu faux fur coat on the cover of the October ‘17 issue of Glamour.

Want to try the trend? Channel fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker and shop for colorful faux fur coats and outerwear (we’re loving all shades of pink or blue, or try olive green, which is super chic this season), or pick a coat with a playful pattern–think patchwork or stripes, or go for bold with an animal print. Another cool option is a faux fur stole like the ones we saw at the Monse Fall 2017 show. Try a casual look by topping off jeans and a turtleneck with a faux fur coat a la Gigi Hadid and Olivia Palermo, or keep it ultra posh and pair your faux fur with a bodycon midi dress and boots. There’s really no wrong way to rock faux fur–it can totally elevate you look, and it gives any outfit that It girl vibe.
