Pucker up in punchy colors this season!
Lips got a lot of love at the Spring 2017 shows–particularly notable after several seasons of bright blue eyeshadows, colorful cat eyes, and larger-than-life lashes–and it was anything goes when it came to colors. From classic reds at Carolina Herrera and Giambattista Valli to beautiful berries at Vanessa Seward and Chanel, and tons of other punchy and even vampy hues, bold pouts abounded on this season’s runways.

From the runway straight to real life, bold, head-turning lips have been showing up on our Instagram feeds, in the pages of fashion and beauty magazines, and on red carpets all season long. Celebs like Rihanna, Janelle Monae, Lauren Conrad, and Emma Roberts, along with many of our favorite street style stars and beauty bloggers, have made colors like cherry red, orange, and neon pink their go-to colors for spring and summer. And we’ve been rocking bold lips for weeks (Rebel from MAC Cosmetics is our jam, and it looks fab on everyone).

Want to try the trend? Wear a red, berry, or hot pink lip with a bare face and an easy ponytail for a cool, girl-about-town look, or go for a matchy-matchy look and color coordinate your bright pink or orangey peach lips with your cheeks like the models at Jasper Conran and Leonard Paris. A bold lip paired with a colorful smoky eye is also cool for the summer. But for the most daring and unexpected look, try a vampy oxblood lip, like we saw at DKNY, or change the game completely and turn heads with a–wait for it–grey lip color, like the models at Acne.

Pro tip: Make your lip color last even longer by lining them first, filling them in with the lip pencil, then finishing with a layer of lipstick or gloss.
