Midi is the new must-have!
The midi skirt has become the go-to piece when it comes to cooler temps, and the Fall/Winter 2017 runways were evidence of that; there was at least one midi skirt included in nearly every designer collection this season–no kidding! From NYFW to the London, Milan, and Paris shows, designer labels like Coach, Tibi, Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, and Dior favored longer lengths when it came to skirt hemlines. We saw them layered over trousers, paired with ankle socks and T-strap heels, and floating over knee-high boots, giving us tons of inspiration for how to style our own midis this season.

And not only were midi skirts on every catwalk, we’ve also spotted nearly every fashion influencer, from bloggers to editors to Hollywood A-listers, rocking this trend. The weather has barely begun to cool down and already stars and industry insiders including Selena Gomez, Shiona Turini, Chanel Iman, Nicole Richie, Olivia Palermo, and the ever-stylish Victoria Beckham have traded in their summery minis in favor of autumn-appropriate midi skirts.

Want to try the trend? Whether it’s a kicky, flouncy silhouette or a sleek pencil style, a midi skirt is just about the easiest trend you can pull of this season. Pair one with the season’s must-have chunky knits and a pair of Chuck Taylors, or channel your inner Parisian It girl and rock a midi skirt with a fitted turtleneck. One look we’re totally obsessed with: a plaid midi skirt, which combines two of Fall ‘17’s most loved trends (see our adorable pick below). And of course, swapping out your jeans in favor of a midi skirt-and-tee combo is a simple and stylish way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe.
