You’ll love this barely-there beauty trend!
We’ve shared plenty of the most gorgeous hair and makeup trends from the Fall/Winter 2017-18 runways, but one look we haven’t covered that was hot on the catwalks, and equally as pretty, was the no-makeup makeup look. Yep, several designers, including 3.1 Phillip Lim, Monse, Adam Selman, Creatures of the Wind, and Thakoon ditched the dramatic vampy lip and ultra-glam jewel-toned smoky eyes in favor of more subdued looks with clean, dewy skin, barely-there eye makeup, and natural, almost undetectable lip colors.

Not surprisingly, beauty editors, bloggers, celebrities, and other industry insiders are 100% on board with this trend. After all, who doesn’t want to look naturally flawless and gorgeous? The no-makeup makeup look works well for every day, but can also look just as stunning for a special occasion, which is key if you’re a Hollywood A-lister like Selena Gomez or Zendaya. Plus the fuss-free look is Insta-perfect for selfies! We’ve spotted nearly naked faces on everyone from bloggers Emily Schuman and Chriselle Lim of Cupcakes and Cashmere and The Chriselle Factor, respectively, to stars like Elle Fanning and Amandla Stenberg, all of whom totally nailed it.

Want to try the trend? Don’t let the name fool you; you still need products to pull off the no-makeup look, but this is a trend you’ll definitely want to get right. The no-makeup makeup look is all about tinted lips, luminous skin, a flushed cheek, and, since the eyes are the windows to the soul and the key to the no-makeup makeup look, darkened lashes and thick, groomed brows to frame them. You can put away your eyeshadow palettes–all you need is one neutral eyeshadow in a shade that closely matches your skintone, which will help you look fresh and alert. You’ll also need a brow gel to darken, shape, and groom your brows, and a mascara to darken your lashes. If you’re using a blush, celebrity makeup artist Erin Ayanian Monroe suggests a cream blush, which you can easily blend with your fingers for a naturally flushed look. Finally, use a highlighter wherever you normally would (cheeks, of course, and a little on the chin and bridge of your nose) and add a tinted lip balm or gloss to your lips.
