Your favorite hairstyle, elevated.
With all the ultra glamorous hair and makeup looks we see on the runways season after season, it’s kind of incredible that one of Fall 2017’s most glamorous hairstyles is the humble (or in this case, all mighty) ponytail.
That’s right—for all you girls who roll out of bed a half hour before class starts, leaving you with just enough time to throw your hair up into a ponytail, this one’s for you…with a few elevated tweaks, of course.
From the super-shiny low ponytail spotted at Lowe to J.W. Anderson’s sleek side pony to the sweet ribbon-bedecked ponytails at Tory Burch, we counted over a dozen different designers who favored ponytails to go along with their Fall 2017 collections.

Whether these designers were inspired by the fierce ponytails we’ve seen on A-listers like Beyonce, Gigi Hadid, and Kendall Jenner—or vice versa—is hard to say, but it’s clear that celebrities, models, and other tastemakers are making the “power ponytail” their go-to style for the season.
And since it works for literally any occasion, from movie premieres to the Met Gala, expect to see even more stars sporting the look well into 2018.

Want to try the trend?
You may think you’ve got your ponytail technique down, but trust us, it takes a little more than just scraping your hair back with your fingers and wrapping an elastic around it. The point of this trend is to look polished and pretty, not like you’re headed to the gym.
One technique used by stylist Guido Palau was to create a precise center part with a fine-tooth comb, then apply gel to the top of the hair and blow-dry it to set hair tight and smooth; he left the ponytail to air dry, which resulted in a bit of texture.
Another way to rock this trend is like the models at Balmain, who had their tresses done into three French braids at the top of the head, then slicked back into a low, loose pony.
You could also sweeten the deal by tying your ponytail with a ribbon, like the models at Tory Burch; or pull some hair out of your pony, wrap it around the elastic and secure with pins, a look that Bella Hadid, Beyonce, and Zendaya have all mastered. Use texturizing spray or pomade to add body and texture, or a straightening cream and flat iron to create stick straight strands.
And whether you wear it high or low, don’t forget to finish it off with a little shine serum for a glossy, healthy-looking ponytail.
