Get in line with one of the season’s hottest trends!
There are myriad reasons to love stripes (a classic Breton-striped top is a girl’s best friend on any day), and it seems there’s even more to love about them in the spring and summer. This season, we saw designers like Missoni, Opening Ceremony, Fendi, and Proenza Schouler take the classic stripe and dial it up a thousand, from insanely cool stripes-on-stripes combos to head-turning rainbow bright stripes, not to mention updated silhouettes and styles.

Off the runway, stripes are just as popular with the most stylish celebrities and tastemakers this season. Earlier this year, Yara Shahidi, Michelle Williams, and Paris Jackson all chose striped evening gowns for awards season, and tons of other stars, including Karlie Kloss, Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, and Gigi Hadid have made stripes a mainstay in their everyday wardrobes. And style stars like Emily Schuman and Chriselle Lim regularly feature striped looks on their blogs and Instagram accounts.

Want to try the trend? Wear a classic black and white stripe in a new way—think ruffled skirts, asymmetrical dresses, or a wide-leg jumpsuit. If you’re into color, layer a colorful striped dress over a striped tee, or play up a pair of denim shorts with a brightly hued, striped crop top. For something more playful, look for diagonal stripes or go for a look that combines both horizontal and vertical stripes in one piece (this was a total hit at the Proenza Schouler show). And if you can only take stripes in small doses, make room in your closet for cute accessories like shoes, lightweight scarves, and handbags.
