At FIDM, getting involved is fun. Events on and off campus are scheduled regularly for students to network with industry leaders, as well as with each other.
Bold, colorful, hip, endearing, soulful, inspiring, expressive, and sparkly. These words not only describe her jewelry, but Tarina Tarantino herself!
Watch Her
In her teens Tarina Tarantino started making collage pins with photos, fabric, and lace. From there she made her first brooch collection from watch parts, vintage jewelry, and found objects. So ahead of her time.
The Future Looks Bright
In the early 90s Tarina was a model in Europe. Lucky for us, she quit and launched Tarina Tarantino in 1995. Sparkle is a common theme in her current pieces. In a necklace from her recent collection she used gorgeous Swarovski crystal drops with 10 amazing, crystallized Lucite butterfly pendants.
My Pretty
Tarina Tarantino recently designed a collection specifically for the celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Warner Bros.’ The Wizard of Oz. The exhibit was held at the FIDM Museum and Gallery in June. Opening night was a star-studded event with celebs including Kristin Cavallari, Debi Mazar, and George Lopez.
The "My Pretty" collection is a Wizard of Oz dream come true (pun intended). You will surely want to click your heels together in excitement over everything from the Glinda bubble pop earrings to the Dorothy Lucite pendant necklace. This rainbow necklace was sold at the FIDM Museum & Galleries Store.
There’s No Place Like Home
Tarina mentored 22 FIDM students as they designed their own pieces to compete in Warner Bros.’ 70th Anniversary of The Wizard of Oz Jewelry Design Contest. Francesca Keesee’s design won the grand prize. She has now graduated from FIDM and is incidentally interning at Tarina Tarantino! Francesca has her own jewelry line.
