Skin Deep - Makeover Magic

Getting gorgeous is a breeze with these super-easy hair and makeup tips inspired by our Garden Nymph theme!

Vivid green eyeshadow is unexpected, but it’s quite enchanting. To get the look, sweep a shimmery eyeshadow, such as MAC Eyeshadow in Bitter ($14.50), from lid to brow, then along your lower lash line. Follow that up with a blue eye pencil along the top lash line and a coat of mascara. Try L’Oreal HIP Eye Liner in Navy ($8) with Too Faced Lash Injection in Pitch Black ($19.50). Complete the look with a barely-there, shimmery lipgloss, such as Cargo PurseGloss™ in London ($16).

A fresh, neutral face looks lovely with floral prints. Get this look by blending earthy colors on your eyelids. Start with a peachy-brown on your lids, then blend a cocoa color into the creases. e.l.f. Duo Eyeshadow Cream in Butter Pecan ($1) has both colors. Now, line the top lash line with a brown eye pencil, such as Benefit Kohl Pencil in Sable ($13), and apply a coat of black mascara. Stila Major Lash Mascara in Black ($8.50) will darken and define your lashes, but keeps them soft and natural-looking. For lips, a soft peachy coral, such as Nars Lipstick in Casablanca ($24), is all you need.

Even the palest blue can be a bold statement. To get this look, blend a soft blue shadow from lid to just above the crease, then along the lower lash line. Try Lorac Eyeshadow in Celebutant ($17) or Cover Girl Eye Enhancers Eyeshadow in Aqua Paradise ($3.50). Finish the look with a coat of lengthening mascara, such as Clinique High Impact Mascara in Black ($14), and candy pink lip color, like Make Up For Ever Super Lipgloss in Candy Rose ($16).

We couldn’t think of a prettier way to top off the Garden Nymph looks than with soft, touchable waves. Here’s how you can get the look:

  1. Spritz hair with a working spray. Try Redken 12 Headplay Pliable Working Spray ($13)—it’s a brushable, flexible holding spray that leaves hair frizz-free, touchable, and shiny.
  2. Use a large-barrel curling iron or hot rollers (make sure hair is dry) to create loose curls. Wrap hair around the barrel of the curling iron starting near the roots, instead of the ends.
  3. Gently comb out curls with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to create waves.

Get a romantic look by pinning just the back of the hair up, leaving the front and sides loose.

Make an ordinary ponytail more glamorous by pulling it to one side. Pull face-framing tendrils loose, then use a paddle brush and your hand to gently twist the ponytail into a spiral.

Create a pretty updo by pulling hair into a ponytail and pinning random sections to make a loose chignon. Pull out face-framing pieces for a chic, slightly messy look.
