After graduating from Rancho Campana High School, where he was in the Performing Arts Academy for Acting/Musical Theatre/Dance, Trevor Garcia began his FIDM career this past July. We recently caught up with him to learn more about his journey from FIDM Fashion Club President to FIDM student!
What did you like best about being a FIDM Fashion Club President? I loved interacting with other fashion-oriented people! I loved playing fashion styling games with my members, and getting to see everyone’s personal style.
How did FIDM Fashion Club prepare you for being a student at the college? I would say the people I met through FIDM Fashion Club prepared me to become a FIDM Student. FIDM Fashion Club allowed me to create connections and friendships with people at FIDM prior to attending there. By the time I started at FIDM, there were already greater chances of getting some amazing opportunities.
Do you have a favorite Fashion Club memory? It was the night of our fashion show. I absolutely loved organizing the show, and was elated when I saw we had a packed house! It was also my school’s first ever fashion show, which made it all the more exciting.
How did you know you wanted to attend FIDM? I knew after I went to the Fall Open House and saw some amazing panelists. They were inspiring, fun, stylish, happy, hardworking, and already thriving in the industry. I was inspired by all of their qualities, and realized that I aspire to be like them. I also was more interested after taking the Career Quiz!
What’s your favorite thing about being a FIDM Student so far? I am able to wake up excited to go to school because I get to learn about really interesting subjects. I am also meeting really fun and insightful people that have become connections.
Do you have any advice for high school students who are thinking about starting a FIDM Fashion Club? Just do it! If it makes you excited and you love fashion, why not? You’ll figure it out as you go along, and it’ll teach you things that you didn’t know before. Just be yourself and make sure you’re having fun, and your members will too.
