Grace Esposito, FIDM Fashion Club President at Foxborough High School in Foxborough, Massachusetts shares how she’s staying inspired during the coronavirus pandemic.
How are you personally staying inspired right now? At the beginning of quarantine it was really difficult to adjust to this new way of living. I was stuck inside all day and didn’t know what could keep me busy. I started to do a lot of DIYs. I would tie-dye clothes, I started to rip my jeans myself and customize them the way I liked, I tried many different makeup looks, and I might’ve redone my room a couple times. I stayed inspired by using my creativity in ways I hadn’t thought of before.
Are there specific brands or personalities you admire who are showing leadership during this health crisis? I recently watched a video of Beyoncé on her Instagram talking about the events happening as of right now. She explained how strong of a generation we are to be getting through this. She is a very well-spoken and inspiring person who I look up to not only in general, but especially during this time.
Do you have any tips for staying connected during this challenging time? To stay connected with the members, I tried to text in a group chat as much as possible to check in and see if anyone had been working on anything. Members would often send me pictures and videos of pieces and designs that they were working on. Although we weren’t able to finish our designs together, many members still continued to create new pieces by upcycling their old clothes on their own!
