How are you staying inspired right now? Through COVID, we have been looking online for articles and social media accounts for the newest beauty trends. Since we are behind masks and can’t go out to the mall, we are even more interested in finding new skin and beauty products through influencers online.
Are there specific brands or personalities you admire who are showing leadership during Covid-19? There are a lot of social media accounts that we like, but one of them is The Powder Room (@powderroom.co.kr). It has a lot of great beauty product information, which is inspiring for us and makes us think, “oh, maybe we can try this!”
What has you been your biggest focus as a club? Our biggest focus is doing well in school. Since we don’t have a lot of time outside of school, we have a designated time to meet for Fashion Club during the day. We are discovering new passions as well, like beauty and skin care. It doesn’t just have to be fashion related.
What was it like to start a new club? We actually just started and it was a lot of work, but because we are all really good friends and see each other at school quite a bit we were able to make it work. When we are not at school, we use social media to stay connected.
What are some of the activities you have done with your Fashion Club? Right now, we are just getting started with our club so we don’t have a lot of activities planned just yet. We are working on our social media account right now, so we are making profiles for everyone in the club using Canva to make images. We are waiting for the cherry blossoms to come out and then we will have a styling and photoshoot activity.
Do you have any advice for other FIDM Fashion Clubs to stay inspired? Don’t be pressured or intimidated by other FIDM Fashion Clubs on social media. Your club doesn’t have to be like anyone else’s. Do what works for your club. All that is important is that you come together.
