How I’m Staying Inspired: Seraiyah Reddix

Learn about her new streetwear brand.

FIDM Fashion Club President Seraiyah Reddix of Center High School North in Antelope, California shares how she’s staying inspired during the coronavirus pandemic.

How are you personally staying inspired right now? I have been staying inspired during this time by always giving myself new projects and challenges. This period has given me time to finally launch my company, Secret Societe Streetwear, and take that first step as a business owner. Seeing all these small companies start to pop up makes me very excited. I love seeing so many people use this unfortunate time to get their dreams off the ground.

Are there specific brands or personalities you admire who are showing leadership during this health crisis? The ALL IN Challenge is a series of auctions where celebrities offer experiences with them as the winnings. All the money made goes to feeding seniors, those who have lost their job, students, and low-income families. You can enter to win a two-week internship with Roc Nation, a lunch in Central Park with the cast of Friends, a feature in a Meg Thee Stallion music video, producer credits on a Travis Scott song, and many more once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. What I love about this challenge is a lot of the sports stars and actors have come forward for charity on top of their donations as well.

Do you have any tips for staying connected with fellow members during this challenging time? The one thing most of our clubs have in common is a passion for creativity and wanting to be surrounded by other artists and creatives, so staying in contact is very important. What I love to do for my club is to allow them to highlight their personal accomplishments during this time. They share a new project they started or something they have been working on for a while and had the time to finish. Pinterest challenges are also a very good way to keep everyone connected. You can do a Prom Moodboard or a Future Dorm Room Pinterest board challenge and have everyone share their ideas with each other.
