Queen Creek’s Fashion Club Holds Scrunchie Fundraiser

queens creek high school fashion club sells schrunchies for fundraising

Queen Creek High School FIDM Fashion Club President Heather Kepler gives us the low down on their scrunchie-making endeavors.

Our advisor, Mrs. Williams, proposed the idea to us at one of our officer meetings. Instantly, we thought it was a great way to get members involved, an awesome fundraiser idea, and such a fun activity! We just happened to have tons of scrap fabric that we were able to reuse to make these scrunchies.

It’s great because you get to reuse old fabrics to make something so current and on trend. A lot of inspiration really comes from our amazing members and officers. They get to pick out the fabrics and style of scrunchie they want to make. Plus it helps to have such a creative advisor; her input has really helped us with making and designing these hair ties!

When we were first learning it took maybe an hour. But after we got it down it was fun and pretty quick. We had eight members come to our meeting to make them and also had five officers that were able to help out by doing demos, make them, and run the activity! We had around 13 people in total.

The response at Queen Creek High School is amazing! We have so much interest and support around campus from teachers and students. We even have people personally messaging us to set up orders! We did this fundraiser at our school’s fall carnival, and in a few hours, we made over $100 and we were able to promote our club to different members of the community! We also plan to begin selling them during school next week.
